Job description

Join Our Team

At Boldli, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive and every family deserves the support they need to build a strong foundation for lifelong success. We’re looking for a passionate and collaborative Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our school community. In this role, you’ll work alongside students, families, teachers, and other professionals to support communication, learning, and meaningful participation in the classroom and beyond.

This is more than a teaching position—it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact on children, families, and the communities we serve.

Position Summary

Provide comprehensive, quality speech-language pathology services to children in compliance with Michigan’s Special Education Rules and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004. Services include evaluation, therapeutic activities and interventions, multidisciplinary team participation, family and professional consultation, referrals, and education to support students’ meaningful participation in their educational experiences.

Essential Functions
  • Provide speech-language pathology services, including evaluations using formal and informal testing and observation; develop and implement therapeutic intervention programs aligned with students’ educational plans; consult with teachers, families, and other professionals; and develop supplementary speech, language, and communication activities for use at home and in the classroom.
  • Evaluate and re-assess children referred for speech-language services, with written parental consent and within required timelines. Make appropriate referrals to other professionals, such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and social workers, when indicated.
  • Participate as a contributing member of Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and family conferences. Develop IEP goals in collaboration with the educational team.
  • Complete required documentation, including daily notes, monthly reports, and quarterly progress notes, in accordance with school and program standards.
  • Orient and supervise speech-language pathology students and Clinical Fellows, upon request.
  • Maintain current knowledge of speech-language pathology and related fields through continuing education, in-service training, professional meetings, seminars, workshops, and review of current literature.
  • Keep the Director informed of work-related information and service-delivery issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the position and program needs.
Qualifications
Required
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the State of Michigan.
  • Eligible for or holding the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), as applicable.
  • Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently as appropriate to the position.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Special Education Rules and IDEA 2004 requirements.
  • Knowledge of community resources in the tri-county area serving children and families with disabilities.
  • Ability to evaluate students and provide appropriate speech-language services in a school setting.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Work Requirement, Physical & Travel Requirements
  • Ability to travel to assigned school sites throughout Metro Detroit.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • The position may occasionally require lifting and carrying materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds when necessary to perform job duties.
  • Ability to work in school environments and interact professionally with students, families, educators, administrators, and other service providers.
  • If travel between assigned school sites requires the employee to drive, the employee must have a valid Michigan driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and automobile insurance as required by law and applicable Boldli or school-site requirements.
