Job summary

Chickasaw City Schools is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide services to our students. Based in Chickasaw, AL, you will diagnose and treat communication disorders, ensuring every child has the tools to succeed socially and academically.

The role involves direct therapy for Pre-K–12, IEP development, collaboration with teachers and families, and adherence to ALSDE standards. Strong evaluative and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology issued by an accredited program.
  • ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A) is required or in good standing.
  • CCC-SLP is preferred; CFY with strong references may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Direct therapy: provide individual and group sessions for Pre-K–12 with speech/language impairments.
  • Assessment & evaluation: administer diagnostic tests to identify disorders and determine eligibility for services.
  • IEP management: lead development of IEPs; document progress and adjust treatment.
  • Collaborative support: consult with teachers and parents to reinforce therapy goals.
  • Regulatory compliance: maintain records per ALSDE SETS requirements.
  • Hearing screenings: coordinate or assist with annual screenings.

Job Summary

Chickasaw City Schools is seeking a passionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide part‑time services to our students. Unlike larger county systems, Chickasaw offers a tight‑knit educational environment where you can truly get to know your students and their families. You will be responsible for diagnosing and treating communication disorders, ensuring that every child has the tools they need to succeed both socially and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Therapy: Provide individualized and group therapy sessions for students (Pre‑K through 12) with speech and language impairments.
  • Assessment & Evaluation: Administer diagnostic tests to identify students with communication disorders and determine their eligibility for special education services.
  • IEP Management: Lead the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); document student progress and adjust treatment strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborative Support: Serve as a consultant to teachers and parents, offering classroom strategies and home-based activities to reinforce therapy goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain meticulous records in accordance with Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) standards, specifically utilizing the SETS documentation system.
  • Hearing Screenings: Coordinate or assist with annual hearing screenings to identify potential auditory barriers to learning.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Education: Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university.
  • Valid ALSDE Professional Educator Certificate (Class A).
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is highly preferred; Clinical Fellows (CFY) with strong references may be considered.
  • Clinical Skills: Proficiency in conducting diverse assessments and implementing evidence‑based interventions.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of the ALSDE‑required background check and fingerprinting.
  • Local Knowledge: Familiarity with the unique needs of coastal Alabama school communities is a plus.
