Job summary

Vista Specialty Hospital in Tucson, AZ is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to assess and treat patients with communicative, swallowing, and cognitive disorders, ages 18 and up, with medically complex conditions. You will develop and administer a treatment program under physician direction and educate patients and families on therapy methods.

This role requires a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology, current state license, a national exam and a 9-month clinical fellowship, CPR

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
• Current license for Speech Language Pathology in state of employment.
• Successful completion of a national exam in Speech Language Pathology and a 9-month clinical fellowship.
• Must maintain current Provider CPR certification/licensure.
• Experience in modified barium swallow studies.
• Preferred experience in Inpatient Rehab.
• Safety Sensitive-Designated Position.

Responsibilities

• Assess referred patients aged 18+ with medically complex or rehab needs.
• Provide direct patient care to evaluate communicative, swallowing, and cognitive disorders.
• Establish and administer a treatment program with goals set by patient capacity and physician direction.
• Educate patients and families on speech therapy methods.

Education

Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology

Current license for Speech Language Pathology

National exam in Speech Language Pathology + 9-month clinical fellowship

Provider CPR certification (ongoing)

Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies

Inpatient Rehab experience (preferred)

Safety Sensitive designation

Speech Language Pathologist Job Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for the assessment of referred patients, ranging in age from 18 years to older who are experiencing medically complex conditions or medical surgical conditions requiring rehabilitation and/or wound care needs. Responsible for providing direct patient care to assess their communicative, swallowing, and cognitive disorders to improve their optimal, functional level of independence and potential for rehabilitation. To establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals determined according to the patient's capacity and tolerance under the direction of the Physician. Educate patients and families with appropriate speech therapy methods.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology required
• Current license for Speech Language Pathology field in state of employment
• Successful completion of a national exam in speech language pathology, and completion of a nine (9) month clinical fellowship.
• Must maintain current Provider CPR certification and licensure throughout employment
• Experience in modified barium swallow studies
• Preferred experience in Inpatient Rehab
