Job summary

Ambercare Homecare in New Mexico is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join our expanding team in Belen, NM. This PRN role involves conducting evaluations, determining plans of care, and delivering direct speech therapy services on an as-needed basis.

The position requires ASHA certification, state licensure, and relevant clinical experience in acute care or equivalent settings. You'll collaborate with families and other staff to support patient communication goals and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certification of clinical competence in speech from the ASHA.
• Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in the practicing state.
• At least one year of acute care or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy.

Responsibilities

• Conducts evaluations and assesses home environment as appropriate.
• Identifies functional speech defects and plans care to improve function.
• Administers diagnostic speech and language evaluations and informal audiologic assessments.
• Recommends communication devices and aids as indicated.
• Prepares reports of diagnostic evaluations and makes recommendations.
• Advises, consults and teaches procedures to clients, families, and staff.
• Provides direct speech therapy services and reports client response to the provider.

What You’ll Do:

• Conducts appropriate evaluations, assesses home environment (as appropriate), identifies equipment needs relative to speech/language function.
• Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patient’s function.
• Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care
• Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated.
• Prepare a report of each client’s diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations
• Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff
• Provide direct speech service to clients under a provider’s plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the client’s response to therapy

Qualifications:

• Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
• Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
• At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
• Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
