Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Arizona seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our nationally recognized team. This outpatient position focuses on evaluating and treating communication, cognitive-linguistic and swallowing disorders in medically complex adults.

The role requires advanced clinical expertise, collaboration with neurologists and other specialists, and competency in VFSS. FEES training is encouraged; mentorship is available. Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm, on the Phoenix campus.

Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current CCC-SLP or CF-SLP eligibility.
  • Arizona SLP licensure eligible (CCC-SLP) or provisional (CF-SLP).
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Outpatient SLP role based on the Phoenix campus, evaluating and treating a broad spectrum of speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and voice disorders.
  • Collaborate with neurologists, physiatry, neuropsychology, otolaryngology and other team members to deliver patient-centered care.
  • Competent in independently performing/interpreting Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS); FEES training encouraged but not required.
  • Develop long-term therapeutic relationships with medically complex adults and contribute to a Neurology program.

Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a medical Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our nationally recognized team. This position requires advanced clinical expertise in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of speech, language, cognitive, swallowing, and voice disorders. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the SLP will contribute to patient-centered care through evidence-based assessment and intervention in alignment with Mayo Clinic's high standards of excellence, including the opportunity to serve as a clinical instructor for graduate students in speech pathology, clinical fellows, and other medical professionals. Depending on departmental assignment, the role includes specialized responsibilities and competencies tailored to patient populations within Neurology or Otorhinolaryngology.

This outpatient position is based on the Phoenix campus and provides evaluation and treatment for patients with a wide range of neurological diagnoses, including stroke, traumatic brain injury, neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors, movement disorders, and other complex medical conditions.

The role includes comprehensive assessment and treatment of communication, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders, with opportunities to develop long-term therapeutic relationships with patients throughout their recovery. Clinicians are expected to practice independently and collaborate closely with neurologists, physiatrists, neuropsychologists, otolaryngologists, radiologists, and other interdisciplinary team members.

Candidates must be competent in independently performing and interpreting Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS). Experience with Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) is encouraged but not required, as training and mentorship can be provided for motivated candidates.

The ideal candidate is clinically strong, highly organized, an excellent communicator, and passionate about delivering evidence-based care to medically complex adults while contributing to a collaborative and innovative Neurology program.

Qualifications

Obtained, or eligible to obtain, a Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology educational program.

License/Certifications
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or eligibility to participate in Clinical Fellowship (CF-SLP)
  • Eligible for full SLP Licensure in the state of Arizona (CCC-SLP) or eligible for provisional SLP Licensure in the state of Arizona (CF-SLP).
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
