Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders for diverse patient populations. The role involves developing and administering therapy programs for both inpatients and outpatients, with a focus on patient and family education and excellent customer service.

Requirements include a Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology, CPR certification for all ages, and CCC (or progress toward it) with completion

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology is required.
  • CPR certification for all age groups is required.
  • CCC certification by ASHA, or meeting educational requirements with supervised experience and completion within one year is required.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates speech, language, cognitive, and communication impairments, as well as swallowing, airway, clinical voice and resonance disorders.
  • Develops and administers speech therapy programs and treatments for inpatients and outpatients aged neonate to geriatric.
  • Involves patient and family education and maintaining courtesy and patience when interacting with patients and medical staff to ensure quality service.

Education

Responsibilities

Evaluates speech, language, cognitive, and communication impairments, as well as swallowing, airway, clinical voice and resonance disorders. Develops and administers speech therapy programs and treatments for inpatients and outpatients of age groups defined by clinical competency, which may include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. The duties of this position require patient and family education and the exercise of courtesy and patience in speaking with and assisting patients, families, medical personnel and others in order to provide quality customer service.

Qualifications

REQUIRED: 1. Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology.

2. Must be certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for all age groups.

3. Must be certified (CCC) by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association, or meets the educational requirements for certificate and in the process of accumulating the supervised experience required for certification with completion in one year.

PREFERRED: Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other government regulations.
