Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to assess and treat patients with speech, language, fluency, voice, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. The provider will develop an individualized care plan and collaborate with families and the care team to achieve outcomes.

The role requires CCC or CFY with CCC within three months, state licensure, and BLS certification; prior experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accreditedSpeech-Language Pathology program.
• CCC in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA, or CFY with CCC within 3 months.
• Current State licensure as Speech-Language Pathologist.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient assessment and treatment related to speech deficits and disorders; collaborates with patient and caregivers to set goals.
• Establishes an individualized plan of care and selects therapeutic interventions addressing impairments per physician orders.
• Conducts ongoing reassessment of the patient and their response to treatment.

Education

Graduate of accredited speech-language pathology program

Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA)

Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with CCC within three months of completing CFY

Current State licensure as Speech-Language Pathologist

Position Summary:

The speech and language pathologist implements patient care services for patients with speech, language, fluency, voice, swallowing, and cognitive disorders. The speech and language pathologist accurately assesses patients’ needs; identifies and initiates appropriate speech and language therapy interventions; provides patient and family teaching; and works cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards of professional speech and language therapy practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.Performs patient assessment and treatment related to speech deficits and disorders through the process of obtaining history, performing relevant systems review, and selecting and administering specific tests and measures to obtain data. Collaborates with the patient and/or caregivers to establish goals geared toward the experiences, values, priorities, and desired outcomes.

2.Establishes an individualized plan of care and selects therapeutic interventions that address the specific impairments identified in the evaluation and in accordance with physician orders.

3.Conducts ongoing reassessment of the patient and their response to treatment.

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited program of speech-language pathology
• Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech Pathology from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
• -OR- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with completion of Certificate of Clinical Competency within three months of completing Clinical Fellowship Year.
• Current State Board of Speech-Language Pathologist licensure.
• BLS certification.

Preferred:

• One year of speech-language pathology experience.
