Description

Work Hours - 8:30am-5:00pm

Work Location - Scottish Rite Center

Under the direction of the Speech Director/Division Chair, the Speech-Language Pathologist III will be responsible for evaluating the speech and language of children and providing remediation for children with communication disorders.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (Required)

Minimum Work Experience

  • At least 6 years' experience as a provider
  • Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Demonstrated flexibility in the evaluation process
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques, empathy, and caring
  • Knowledge of theoretical application and cultural/linguistic diversity
  • Availability for student/trainee shadowing
  • Ability to triage questions from staff, hospitals, and physicians
  • Involvement in division projects promoting speech knowledge (e.g., IRB membership, event organization)

Required Licenses and Certification

  • Licensure in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (Required)
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA and state licensure (Required)
Functional Accountabilities
Patient Evaluation
  • Evaluate patients using standard and special procedures
  • Use appropriate protocols for age and disorder, complete timely
  • Show skills for various disorders and test instruments
  • Apply knowledge of cultural and linguistic features in diagnostics
  • Use translators when appropriate; demonstrate appropriate language use
  • Adapt procedures for specialized disorders (e.g., stuttering, AAC, bilingual)
Schedules/Self-Management
  • Maintain schedule proactively
  • Show flexibility with schedule changes
  • Plan ahead for scheduling adjustments
  • Meet or exceed department standards for patient contact hours
Test Results/Clinical Reports
  • Accurately report test results using proper format
Remediation Services
  • Deliver therapy appropriately
  • Apply theoretical knowledge in therapy
  • Prepare progress reports, discharge summaries, and insurance requests timely
  • Demonstrate productivity in patient progress
  • Show empathy and caring, recognize need for future counseling and referrals
