Job summary

Bowling Green City Schools seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech and language services that help students with disabilities access their educational program.

This role collaborates with educators, families, and related service providers to develop individualized supports that promote student growth and success, including assessment, therapy, and IEP development in compliance with IDEA.

Qualifications

  • Credentials required by the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students individually and in small groups.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, intervention specialists, related service providers, and families to support student achievement.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and strategies for supporting communication skills at home.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, Medicaid/service logs (when applicable), and required reports.

Position Summary

Bowling Green City Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Speech-Language Pathologist to provide speech and language services that help students with disabilities access and benefit from their educational program. This position works collaboratively with educators, families, and related service providers to develop individualized supports that promote student growth and success.


Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess:



  • Appropriate credentials required by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, if applicable.

  • Successful completion of all required background checks.

  • Ability to meet all required health standards for employment.

  • Knowledge of special education laws, IDEA, evaluation procedures, and IEP development.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills.


$50,438 – $76,535 annually (based the negotiated salary schedule)


Newly hired licensed personnel will receive salary schedule credit for:



  • Each year of service in other Ohio public school districts and chartered Ohio nonpublic schools under a five-year professional license.

  • Up to five (5) years of qualifying military service.

  • Qualifying clinical service or university teaching that meets STRS (or equivalent retirement system) criteria.


The combined maximum placement credit is ten (10) years. Newly hired licensed staff may not be placed above Increment Level I of the negotiated salary schedule.

The Speech-Language Pathologist will:


  • Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and diagnostic assessments.

  • Participate in preschool, kindergarten, and Child Find screening activities.

  • Collaborate with Intervention Assistance Teams and multidisciplinary teams to determine appropriate interventions.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.

  • Provide direct speech and language therapy services to students individually and in small groups.

  • Address communication needs including articulation, language, fluency, voice, social communication, auditory processing, and related areas.

  • Develop and maintain therapy schedules in collaboration with district speech-language pathologists.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, Medicaid/service logs (when applicable), and required reports.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, intervention specialists, related service providers, and families to support student achievement.

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and strategies for supporting communication skills at home.

  • Assist students in accessing the educational environment through appropriate accommodations, adaptive equipment, and communication supports.

  • Provide instruction regarding augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices when appropriate.

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and effective therapy environment while ensuring proper care of materials and equipment.

  • Develop and write evaluation reports and student goals/objectives, report student progress, and maintain student learning documents using district and state approved platforms consistent with IDEA and Ohio Department of Education.

  • Meet deadlines specified in students’ learning documents as specified by IDEA and Ohio Department of Education.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, ETR meetings, parent conferences, staff meetings, transition meetings, and professional development.

  • Support students in the least restrictive environment consistent with IDEA and Ohio Department of Education requirements.

  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and applicable laws.

  • Report suspected child abuse or neglect as required by law.

  • Promote positive student behavior and implement appropriate behavior support strategies.

  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Pupil Services or designee.
