Qualifications

  • Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Kansas or eligible for licensure.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing speech therapy.
  • Ability to interpret evaluation data and write comprehensive reports.
  • Strong oral and written communication with families and staff.
  • Health and inoculation certificate on file after offer.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and planning sessions.
  • Develop and implement IEPs for identified students.
  • Provide direct/indirect SLP services using multiple delivery models.
  • Document progress via notes and quarterly reports aligned with IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to support student needs.
  • Train teachers, parents, aides, and staff to contribute to IEPs.
  • Serve on district/school committees as appropriate (e.g., SIT).
  • Attend staff conferences and parent-teacher conferences, including IEP staffing.
  • Travel locally with own transportation.
  • Adhere to district policies, ethics, and professional standards.
  • Pursue professional growth aligned with district goals.

Job description

Job Title:Speech-Language Pathologist (2027-28 School Year)

Purpose:The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and provides direct student and consultative services to staff/parents for students eligible for special education evaluations/services in the area of speech-language pathology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology/Communication Disorders
  • Valid Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services Speech Language Pathologist License
  • Knowledge of the federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide speech therapy practices
  • Ability to interpret evaluation data, document, and write comprehensive reports following guidelines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately to a child and their family
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in a school setting

FLSA Status: Exempt- Salaried based on the Fort Leavenworth Negotiated Agreement Salary Schedule

Essential Functions:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily:

  • Conduct Speech-Language Pathology screenings and write comprehensive diagnostic evaluations according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team conferences and planning sessions in order to meet the continuing needs of identified students or those at risk
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for identified students
  • Provide direct and indirect Speech-Language Pathology services using a variety of service delivery models within a collaborative team to address the speech and language needs of the student
  • Complete documentation through progress notes and quarterly reports that specify student progress on IEP goals and objectives
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and parents to ensure a unified approach to school-related issues
  • Provide training to teachers, parents, instructional assistants, paraeducators, and other related service personnel to ensure their effective contribution to a child’s IEP
  • Serve on various district, school, or staff committees as appropriate, such as SIT
  • Attend all staff conferences and individual conferences between teacher and administrator and is available for pupil and parent conferences, including conferences for writing IEPs and staffing for special education
  • Travel locally using own transportation
  • Observe, enforce, and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district and adhere to strict professional ethics
  • Undertake efforts that promote professional growth in alignment with the District’s vision, mission, and goals, and keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas, and techniques in Speech Therapy
  • Work to help ensure student achievement and build positive school/community relations
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Carry out the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration

  • Climb stairs, walk, and reach overhead

Terms of Employment: 187-day contract under the Fort Leavenworth Negotiated Agreement
