Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology/Communication Disorders.
  • Valid Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services Speech Language Pathologist License.
  • Knowledge of the federal, state, and local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures that mandate and guide speech therapy practices.
  • Ability to interpret evaluation data, document, and write comprehensive reports following guidelines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate respectfully and compassionately to a child and their family.
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the District Office (after an employment offer is made).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Speech-Language Pathology screenings and write comprehensive diagnostic evaluations according to established state and federal professional standards and procedures.
  • Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for identified students.
  • Provide direct and indirect Speech-Language Pathology services using a variety of service delivery models within a collaborative team to address the speech and language needs of the student.
  • Complete documentation through progress notes and quarterly reports that specify student progress on IEP goals and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and parents to ensure a unified approach to school-related issues.
  • Provide training to teachers, parents, instructional assistants, paraeducators, and other related service personnel to ensure their effective contribution to a child’s IEP.
  • Attend staff conferences and conferences for writing IEPs and staffing for special education as needed.
