Job summary

St. Catherine of Siena Nursing and Rehabilitation and St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, proud members of Catholic Health, are seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, and swallowing impairments on Long Island.

You will perform swallow evaluations and develop individualized plans within a collaborative care model. The role requires a Master's in Speech-Language Pathology, ASHA CCC, NYS licensure, and BLS certification, with preferred MBS

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language from ASHA is required.
• New York State license and registration in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association is required.
• MBS (Modified Barium Swallow) experience/ competency preferred.
• Healthcare experience is required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to comply with all regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat patients with speech, language and/or swallowing impairments.
• Perform objective swallow evaluations.
• Recommend least restrictive safe diet consistencies to maximize patient nutrition.
• Patient population includes cardiac, orthopedic, neurologic, vascular, pulmonary and medical-surgical patient.
• Develop individualized treatment plans and set goals for patients diagnosed as needing speech and language / feeding/swallowing interventions.
• Areas addressed include articulation, voice, fluency, receptive and expressive language skills, oral motor competence and dysphagia.
• Accurate documentation for all patient visits in EMR
• Educate patient and family members
• Work with interdisciplinary team for plan of care
