Job summary

Anova Education is seeking a School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our Colorado educational team. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a certified SLP to implement services for students with speech, language, cognitive, and related disorders from pre-K to 12th grade.

Responsibilities include following IEP-based plans, developing instructional materials, collecting data, and supporting clerical and scheduling tasks.

Qualifications

  • Colorado teaching licensure with SLPA authorization
  • Experience with IEP goals and SLP supervision preferred
  • Strong collaboration with classroom staff and specialists

Responsibilities

  • Follow through with interventions based on IEP developed by the SLP and IEP team.
  • Implement lesson plans and activities designed by the SLP and based on IEP goals and objectives.
  • Provide interventions through service delivery models developed by the SLP and IEP team such as integrative, in-class therapy, or pull-out.
  • Assist the SLP in making instructional materials.
  • Collect data as designed by the SLP and report this information to the SLP for interpretation (e.g., tally data for charts/records/graphs).
  • Assist with clerical duties and departmental operations, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the SLP.
  • Perform checks and maintenance of equipment after being trained by the SLP.
  • Maintain positive individual, large and small group learning climates.
  • Work collegially with other professionals in addressing speech/language and other student needs.
  • Assist in scheduling students to maximize intervention opportunities and integration of education programs.
  • Maintain necessary student records as required by regulations and local policies.
  • Maintain professional competence through district-provided and self-initiated staff development opportunities.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the special education director

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) serves as a member of an educational team, and is authorized to perform tasks prescribed, directed, and supervised by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), in implementing services for children/students with speech, language, cognitive, voice, oral-muscular, augmentative/alternative communication disorders, and hearing impairments, pre-K through grade 12.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

All activities performed by the SLPA are under the supervision and direction of a certified SLP. The following tasks may be conducted by the SLPA (under the direction and supervision of the SLP):

  1. Follow through with interventions based on the IEP that were developed by the SLP and the IEP team.
  2. Implement lesson plans and activities designed by the SLP and based on IEP goals and objectives.
  3. Provide interventions through a variety of service delivery models developed by the SLP and the IEP team such as integrative, in-class therapy, or pull-out.
  4. Assist the SLP in making instructional materials.
  5. Collect data as designed by the SLP and report this information to the SLP for interpretation (e.g., tally data for the SLP to use in preparing charts, records, or graphs).
  6. Assist with clerical duties and departmental operations, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the SLP.
  7. Perform checks and maintenance of equipment after being trained by the SLP.
  8. Maintain positive individual, large and small group learning climates.
  9. Work collegially with other professionals in consistently addressing speech/language as well as other needs of each student.
  10. Assist in scheduling students appropriately to maximize intervention opportunities and for the integration of education programs.
  11. Maintain necessary student records as required by state and federal regulations as well as local policies and procedures.
  12. Maintain professional competence and growth through participation in district provided and self-selected staff development opportunities.
  13. Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the special education director
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Hold or be eligible for Colorado teaching licensure with School Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Authorization for Ages 0-21
