Job description

Primary Purpose

Provide speech-language pathology services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist credentialed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Therapy
  • Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Implement treatment programs and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as designed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct carry-over activities to help students transfer newly acquired communication skills to other contexts and settings.
  • Represent speech-language pathology services at Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) committee meetings as directed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Conduct observations and prepare clinical materials.

    • Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement activities that support and improve students' communication skills.
Student Management
  • Create a learning environment that is conducive to student growth and appropriate for students' maturity levels and interests.
  • Maintain appropriate student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Program Management
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents, including clinical records, in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Comply with all policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and district board policy, including all campus routines and regulations.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Mental Demands

Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under pressure.

Tools & Equipment

Standard diagnostic and testing equipment; standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.

Physical Demands

Frequent sitting, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, twisting, grasping, and wrist flexion.

Lifting

Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 lbs.); occasional heavy lifting (45 lbs. or more). May include positioning students with physical disabilities, behavior management through physical restraint, and assisting non-ambulatory students.

Environment

Possible exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.

District-wide travel may be required.
