Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's MidState Medical Center in Meriden, CT is seeking a per diem Speech-Language Pathologist for weekend coverage, primarily weekends with a minimum two shifts per month.

The role evaluates and treats communication, cognition and swallowing disorders, with opportunities to work in acute care settings and contribute to patient safety and independence.

Qualifications

• Acute care experience preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited college/university.
• State of Connecticut License in Speech/Language Pathology.
• Certificate of Clinical Competence may be required depending on site.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient function and develops individualized speech therapy goals and plans.
• Delivers therapy to restore communication, cognition, and swallowing for safety and independence.
• Applies evaluation skills to maximize patients’ functional independence.

Position Description

Per diem, primarily weekends, minimum two per month, minimal holidays with potential for weekday coverage.

• Independently evaluates patient’s level of function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with the patient/caregiver goals.
• Determines treatment strategies and delivers Speech Language Therapy services that identify, restore, and rehabilitate disorders of communication, cognition and swallowing to maximize a patient’s safety and independence.
• Encompasses evaluation skills and techniques, analysis of patients, and application of speech therapy to maximize the patient’s functional independence.

Qualifications

• Acute care experience preferred. MBS experience a plus.
• Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited college/university.
• State of Connecticut License in Speech/Language Pathology.
