Job summary

Ballad Health's Smyth County Community Hospital seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, treat, and discharge plan patients referred for speech/language services. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans and delivers quality therapy in coordination with other rehab disciplines.

Qualifications

Job description

The Speech-Language Pathologist(SLP), as a member of the rehabilitation team, has the responsibility for providing direct patient care services, including patient evaluation, treatment and discharge planning for individuals who are referred for speech/language services. The SLP establishes individualized patient treatment plans, and provides quality therapy services with respect to speech/language services. She/he ensures that the patient care administered is consistent with the medical treatment plan and coordinated with the plans of other disciplines as appropriate. Provides patient and family instruction/home programs and performs other departmental tasks as assigned. The SLP needs to be outgoing and flexible to adjust to all possible situations, must show initiative and good judgment. The SLP must pay close attention to detail and provide superior levels of care. The SLP should be committed to continuing education, upgrading his/her skills, and be willing to rotate to other rehab service areas as needed.

The SLP provides guidance/training to new employees and may be asked to assist with orientation. In addition, the SLP may be requested to provide supervision of student clinicians and volunteers. The SLP clinical Fellow will follow ASHA guidelines for practice and be expected to complete all requirements to achieve ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence within 12 months of hire.

Licenses And Certifications
  • Requires Master's Degree from an approved university program of Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association or have completed registration for Clinical Fellowship with appropriate state Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
  • Licensed to practice Speech/Language Pathology in the appropriate state. Clinical Fellows must be issued provisional licensure as required by state prior to hire.
  • Current CPR certification required.

  • The range for this position is $35.09-$50.05. Actual rate is dependent upon experience.
