Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - Janesville is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat individuals with speech, language, oral and pharyngeal function, cognitive or communicative disorders. This PRN opportunity focuses on delivering patient-centered therapy and education.

Master's degree required with active licensure in Wisconsin and BLS HCP certification within 90 days. Department: Speech. Work shift: Day. Hours vary with PRN needs and patient care demands.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Wisconsin (IDFPR/State board).
• Basic Life Support (BLS HCP) certification within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard therapy techniques appropriate for patient condition.
• Educates and counsels patients and family regarding treatment plans.
• Maintains clinical records and follows performance improvement recommendations.
• Plans and assists with patient discharge from speech therapy services and provides information about support programs.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.

Primary Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

• Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the condition of the patient.
• Educates and counsels patients and family regarding treatment plans.
• Maintains clinical records and follows performance improvement recommendations.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from speech therapy services. Provides information regarding appropriate support programs.
• Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
• Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
• Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
• Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
• Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
• Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Rare climbing.

Required Professional License And/Or Certifications

Resuscitation Certification Requirement: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) required within 90 day of employment. Other resuscitation certifications may be required dependent on department.
