Job summary

Westchester School For Special Chil seeks an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist to provide per diem therapy at the North Salem campus (North Salem, NY 10560). The role focuses on evaluating and treating articulation, voice, fluency, and language disorders for hearing-impaired students.

The position requires a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and a NYS Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities certificate; two years of school-based experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
• Must hold a valid NYS Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities.
• Two years of direct school-based experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations to determine developmental levels and diagnose articulation, voice, fluency, and language disorders.
• Determine treatment priorities, scheduling and procedures for therapy services.
• Conduct re-evaluations and provide written progress reports as required.
• Provide therapy services on an individual and/or small group basis.
• Maintain student records including attendance, IEP information, initiation and discharge summaries.
• Develop and supervise classroom therapeutic programs for implementation by staff and parents.
• Consult with school personnel regarding recommendations.
• Maintain and utilize evaluative and therapeutic materials for the Speech Therapy Program.
• Participate in training programs and conduct in-service programs for students, staff, and parents.

This per diem position is based on a billable hourly rate.

Specifications:

• To conduct evaluations in order to determine developmental levels and diagnose disorders of articulation, voice, fluency, and language to determine communication problems of hearing impaired.
• To determine treatment priorities, scheduling and procedures for providing therapy services.
• To conduct re-evaluations on each student receiving therapy according to the Commissioner’s Regulations or as recommended by the team and/or the child’s school district, and to provide written progress reports as required.
• To provide therapy services on an individual and/or small group basis according to the end individual needs of the child.
• To maintain appropriate student records including but not limited to attendance, I.E.P. information, initiation and discharge summaries.
• To develop and supervise classroom therapeutic programs to be implemented by classroom staff and parents.
• To consult with school personnel regarding recommendations.
• To maintain, and utilize evaluative and therapeutic materials necessary to conduct a Speech Therapy Program.
• To participate in training programs within the school and conduct in-service programs and demonstration for students, staff and parents.

Qualifications: Qualifications

Education

The qualified applicant must have completed a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology and hold a valid N.Y.S. Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities.

Experience

It is preferred that the qualified applicant will have completed two (2) years of successful direct experience in a school setting.
