Job summary

The Children’s Developmental Center is seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to support children’s communication needs and contribute to individualized plans. Qualifications

  • Obtain and maintain ESIT credential.
  • CPR, BBP, and First Aid training completed.
  • Experience with infants/toddlers with special health needs.

  • Proficient with EHR, MS Office, and databases.
  • Must commute locally and provide in-home services.
  • WA driver’s license and auto insurance required.

Speech Language Pathology Assistant

Reports to:

Classification:

NON-EXEMPT/HOURLY $26.00-33.00 per hour

Schedule:

Full-Time, Monday- Friday 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM with occasional nights and weekends, on a volunteer basis

Job Summary:

Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs) play a crucial role in educating families and supporting children who need assistance with their receptive and expressive language skills, articulation, oral-motor function, and auditory processing. This position involves collaborating closely with families and a multidisciplinary team to implement personalized treatment plans that focus on improving communication skills through direct services and a parent coaching model. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Promotes and adheres to The Center’s safety work rules and regulations.
  • To perform the essential functions of this position, regular and punctual attendance is expected.
  • The essential functions, responsibilities, and duties of the SLPA are:
  • Assist in maintaining Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in appropriate developmental skill areas for children on their caseload as part of an interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in transition planning with family and Family Resources Coordinator.
  • Be familiar with IFSP procedures and eligibility requirements for Washington State including but not limited to IDEA Part C (and B), DDA, and ADA.
  • Provide, coordinate, implement, and monitor speech and language pathology services to children and families enrolled at The Center both ESIT and private pay.
  • Include parents and caregivers in appropriate aspects of program planning and services.
  • Collaborate with outside service providers and community partners as needed and requested.
  • Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, department meetings, planning/visioning days, and professional development opportunities during work hours.
  • Utilize professional development opportunities as required for continuing education requirements to maintain state licensure.
  • Use the EHR system, AdvancedMD, for scheduling and maintaining electronic copies of family information, medical history, evaluation documentation, ongoing assessments, chart notes, goals and objectives, and transition reports in each child’s file at The Center in conjunction with the FRC’s and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Document chart notes and attendance for billing purposes to The Center funders for reimbursement of services rendered to eligible children and families.
  • Document work hours (electronically or hard copy, as appropriate) for wage/salary purposes.
  • Participate in annual reviews with your supervisor, including but not limited to goal setting, monthly meetings, reflective supervision, and performance review.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of mileage records for purposes of reimbursement.
  • Coordinate and maintain an electronic schedule of student’s appointments, meetings, and other job duties, as necessary.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders or SLPA Program from an accredited university program.
  • State of Washington Speech-Language-Pathology Assistant license (DOH).
  • Obtain and maintain the provider ESIT credential through DCYF.
  • Successful completion of Infant/Toddler CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens training, and Basic First Aid.
  • Experience with infants and toddlers with special health care needs and their families.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards, confidentiality, and ensuring equity and inclusion in a diverse workplace.
  • Proficient with EHR, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and other related software.
  • A commitment to the Children's Developmental Center's mission and values and the ability to apply those values in your work.
  • Must have the ability to commute locally for work-related events and to provide in-home services.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of both a valid WA State Driver’s License and current vehicle insurance.
  • A background check and pre-employment drug screening are required and will be administered after a conditional offer of employment has been accepted.
  • Due to working in a building where children are present, COVID-19 vaccination, a negative Tuberculin test, Hepatis B vaccination or immunity, and MMR vaccination or immunity are required.
