Job summary

Calvert County Nursing Center in Maryland is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to lead and support our therapy services within a skilled nursing setting. You will assess residents, plan treatment, and collaborate with care teams to uphold high standards of communication care.

The role emphasizes evidence-based evaluation, documentation, and patient- and family-centered education to promote safe, functional communication and swallowing goals across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provides quality speech therapy services and initiates referrals when appropriate.
• Evaluates and obtains data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
• Develops a treatment plan that includes target list, short-term and long-term goals.
• Instructs patient, family, and staff to allow carry over of therapeutic goals in daily activities.
• Completes compliant and medically necessary documentation from CMS expectations in NetHealth EMR systems.
• Oversees and implements proper protocols for FEES/MBS with coordination of site programs.
• Participates in screening protocols for establishing needs of residents in a timely and clinical manner.

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist assists in planning, organizing, developing, and directing Speech Language Pathology Services in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, and as may be directed by the Administrator or supervisor, to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care is always maintained.

Essential Duties:

• 1. Provides quality speech therapy services and initiates referrals when appropriate, in accordance with established standards of practice, therapy department procedures and productivity standards.
• 2. Evaluates and obtains data necessary for treatment planning and implementation
• 3. Develops a treatment plan that includes a target list, short-term, and long-term goals
• 4. Instructs patient, family, and staff in appropriate speech-language procedures to allow carry over of therapeutic remediation and goals in daily activities
• 5. Completes compliant and medically necessary documentation from CMS expectations in NetHealth EMR systems
• 6. Oversees and implements proper protocols for FEES/MBS with coordination of site programs
• 7. Participants in screening protocols for establishing needs of residents are being met timmely and with clinical excellence
