JOB TITLE : SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (CFY or CCC)
JOB SUMMARY: Speech Language Pathologists conduct evaluations to determine eligibility of students for speech and language services and provide those services to eligible students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language impaired students. Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and to meet individual student needs. Participates in staff meetings, planning events, department/special education meetings, manifestation determination meetings, FBA/BIP meetings, and eligibility, evaluation, and placement meetings. Communicate with other professionals providing services for students to insure continuity and coordination of program. Work directly with students to implement IEP goals and objectives. Develop therapy schedules and provide speech language pathology (SLP) services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through 12th grade in accordance with their IEP. Evaluate, implement and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students including devices for deaf and hard of hearing students. Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards, subject matter content and district curriculum. Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement. Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits. Current knowledge of assistive technology. Knowledge of applicable State and federal rules and regulations. Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment. Knowledge and understanding of child development. Ability to effectively meet developmental needs of students. Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement. Knowledge of and skills in using effective instructional strategies and practices. Knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation. Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness. Skills and abilities in organization, time management and record keeping. Ability to work independently. Ability to collaborate effectively with others. Ability to interact positively and effectively with parents, students, staff and administrators. Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats with a variety of constituents. Ability to operate technology devices and specific software programs. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability and commitment to strengthen job-related competencies.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE: Masters Degree required. Certificate of Clinical Competency preferred but not required. Valid Teaching Certificate Required, Valid State SLP license, and Valid State driver’s license required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Successful and recent experience or clinical experience as a speech language pathologist in a school setting. Student cultural and economic diversity experience, preferred.
Compensation:
$50.00-$60.00/hr Depending on experience level.
