Job summary

Ascension Living is hiring a Speech-Language Pathologist in Indianapolis, IN for the St. Vincent PACE program. This PRN, day-shift role supports older adults with swallowing, communication, and thinking skills in clinic and home settings.

You’ll collaborate with nurses, physicians, and therapists; complete FEES evaluations; develop patient-specific therapy plans; and visit participants in homes or facilities. Requires BLS and ASHA credential; Bachelor’s degree; 1 year experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 1 year of experience required.
  • BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date is required.

Responsibilities

  • Work with care teams to improve swallowing, communication, and thinking skills in clinic and participant care settings.
  • Complete swallowing evaluations, including FEES, bedside assessments and create therapy plans.
  • Visit participants at their homes or facilities, attend IDT meetings, and support caregivers.
  • Advocate for older adults, including those with advanced dementia.

How you’ll make an impact in this role
  • Work alongside nurses, physicians, therapists, and other care team members to help older adults improve their swallowing, communication, and thinking skills in both the clinic and participant care settings.
  • Complete swallowing evaluations, including FEES, provide bedside assessments, and create personalized therapy plans that help participants eat, communicate, and live as safely and independently as possible.
  • Visit participants in their homes or care facilities when needed, attend daily interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings, and work closely with caregivers to support each participant's care.
  • Be a caring advocate for older adults, including those living with advanced dementia.
What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist credentialed from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Speech language pathologist provisional license will be accepted until license is issued. License must be obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred.
Work Experience:
  • 1 year of experience required.
