Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to deliver high-quality care across evaluations, treatments, and documentation. You will mentor new staff, contribute to performance improvement efforts, and provide education to staff, students and the community across multiple locations.

Responsibilities include collaborating with the rehab team, ensuring accurate coding/billing, and leading clinical training programs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Current state licensure in WI or IL (or both) required.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP certification required or in process.
  • CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs evaluation/assessment using evidence-based standards to plan care.
  • Applies integrative treatment to improve patient function.
  • Maintains thorough documentation with proper coding and billing.
  • Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers.
  • Performs timely electronic documentation.
  • Mentors new partners and participates in PI processes.
  • Plans and conducts lectures/trainings for staff, students and community.

OVERVIEWThis role focuses on providing high-quality speech-language pathology care through evidence-based evaluations, effective treatment planning, advanced clinical techniques, and accurate documentation. It also involves teamwork with other healthcare professionals, mentoring new staff, participating in performance improvement and cost-saving efforts, and providing education and training to staff, students, and the community.SCHEDULE: 30-hours per weekSHIFT: Variable, primarily daysESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms evaluation / assessment using evidence-based standards to create an effective plan of care.Applies critical thinking and integrative treatment to improve the functional level of the patient.Maintains a thorough record of services provided with appropriate coding and billing.Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes.Performs thorough and timely electronic documentationStrengths in care delivery as evidenced by peer review feedback; consistently demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment techniquesAssists in the orientation, training and mentoring of new partnersParticipates in cost saving initiatives within the departmentActive participant in the Performance Improvement processMaintain a high standard of patient care and provide effective communication between speech language pathologists, nursing and rehabilitation team, and the physician groupPlans and conducts lectures and training programs on speech language pathology and related topics for medical staff, students and community groupEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEMaster’s Degree from an accredited school of Speech Language PathologyCERTIFICATION/LICENSURELicensed as a speech language pathologist in WI, IL or both if requiredCertificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)CPR/BLS required within 90 days of hireOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESPassing the Driver’s License checkTravel to other locations for cross coveragePassing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background CheckMust be able to follow written/oral instructionsLEVEL OF SUPERVISIONSome independent judgement is required, based upon scope of practice and within professional standards.PAY RANGE:$36.56 - $54.85Mercyhealth is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
