Job summary

Elma Elementary School is seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year. The position includes providing speech-language therapy, screen and assess students, and develop IEPs under state guidelines.

Start date is 08-24-2026, with full-time certificated status in the Elma School District. The candidate should hold or be eligible for WA ESA SLP certification; CCC-SLP is preferred and CFY candidates may be considered.

Qualifications

• Holds or is eligible to obtain WA ESA School SLP certificate.
• Must complete certification steps within six months of hire.
• CCC-SLP preferred; CFY considered.

Responsibilities

• Screen students to determine needs for further assessment.
• Assess speech, language, articulation, fluency, hearing and voice.
• Develop IEPs in accordance with WA rules and regulations.
• Provide speech-language therapy to students to mitigate disorders.
• Lead meetings and collaborate with families, teachers and staff.

Required Qualifications:

• Holds, or is eligible and willing to obtain, a Washington State Educational Staff Associate (ESA) School Speech-Language Pathologist Certificate.
• The selected candidate must complete all required certification steps within six months of their date of hire.
• Certification of Clinical Competencies (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Clinical Fellowship Year candidates may be considered
• WSP/FBI fingerprints background clearance (fee paid by the employee)
• Knowledge and/or experience with federal and state special education regulations, preferred
• Experience with creating schedules for service
• Must be able to safely lift and/or move equipment and supplies as needed in the course of responsibilities
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this position

Examples of Duties:

This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individual assignments, the teacher performs all or a combination of several of the following duties:

• Screens students to determine if further assessment is needed
• Assesses student’s communication skills (e.g., articulation, fluency, hearing, voice, language) to identify communication disorders, determine program eligibility, and develop treatments recommendations
• Develop IEPs meetings Washington State Rules and Regulations
• Provides speech and language therapy to students to minimize the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student success
• Facilitates meetings and processes for eligible students (e.g., testing/screening, IEPs, parent/guardian conferences, pre-referral staffing, etc.) to present evaluation results, develop treatment plans, and/or provide training to parents/guardians/students, and staff
• Collaborates/consults with parents/guardians, teachers, physicians, administrators, team members, and other professionals to develop plans
• The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position
• Other duties as assigned
