Elma School District is seeking applicants for the 2026-2027 Girls Basketball Head Coach at Elma Middle School. The extracurricular salary stipend ranges from $3,159.20 to $3,411.20, with the season starting around 10/26/2026.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 21+, First Aid/CPR and concussion training before practice, and a background check. Prior coaching or playing experience is preferred; strong communication and the ability to work with students, staff, parents and the

• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the sport skill, strategy and rules.
• Prior coaching experience or playing experience in the sport is given preference.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
• The safety and health of students and others is an essential function of this position.

Benefits Include:

• I-1433 Sick Leave, the employee will accrue at least one (1) hour of paid sick leave for every forty (40) hours worked
• Washington Paid Family Medical Leave

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED is required
• Must be at least 21 years or older
• Current First Aid/CPR Certification and Concussion training required before the first day of practice

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous middle school coaching experience
• Previous basketball participation and/or coaching experience

Example of Duties:

• Provide direct leadership and organization for all levels of the assigned sport/activity
• Provide direct ongoing supervision of all athletes, manage before/during/after all practices/conditioning sessions games/travel and other school-sanctioned events
• Develop appropriate objectives of the assigned sport/activity
• Maintain knowledge of league and district rules and regulations related directly to the assigned sport/activity, student participation and parent/community involvement
• Continually teach and emphasize safety procedures and precautions to all athletes
• Report all injuries to the Athletic Director, and complete appropriate report(s)
• Immediately reports all violations or suspected violations of established rules and regulations to the Athletic Director
• Organizes and conducts, in coordination with the Athletic Director, parent meetings prior to the season an provides ongoing parent communication throughout the season
• Provide guidance, leadership, and the fundamental skills necessary to execute the program in a successful manner
• Assume the leadership role in relation to team organization, style of play, practice schedules, equipment and assigned responsibilities
• Assume responsibility clearing all athletes who are returning to play after an injury through the Athletic Director
• Monitors student compliance with all provisions of the ESD Athletic Code, and comply with WIAA Rules and Regulations
• Organizes award and recognition for athletes/participants
• Responsible for a clean and orderly storage facility
