Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders. The clinician will plan and implement treatments and contribute to program development within the department.

Per diem position with daytime shifts. Eligible candidates have a master’s in speech-language pathology, active licensure in the state, ASHA CCC-SLP or CF eligibility, at least one year in a hospital, and current BLS

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Active state licensure in SLP.
• ASHA CCC-SLP or SLP-CF eligibility with supervision.
• Minimum one year of hospital experience.
• Current BLS for healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning and implementation of treatment for patients demonstrating disorders of speech, language, cognition, swallowing and other services prescribed by a physician. Assists in developing and implementing new and ongoing programs beneficial for the enhancement of the department.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology required.
2. Active license to practice speech language pathology in the state of anticipated employment, free of disciplinary action required.
3. Active Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), free of disciplinary action – OR - Speech Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (SLP-CFs) to be considered on a case-by‑case basis (provided proper supervision can be afforded to the CF) required.
4. At least one year of experience in a hospital setting.
5. Current BLS for healthcare provider’s certification upon hire and maintain current.
