Job description

Overview

The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Institute is the patient care component of The Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) is a member of The James Ambulatory Care Team with the goal of providing personalized health care to patients throughout our outpatient clinics.

The SLP specializes in the assessment and treatment of various voice and swallowing disorders and contributes to current evidence‑based practice research in the field. The SLP’s specialized knowledge of the larynx uniquely qualifies this professional to aid in the diagnostic and treatment process within a team that may include other SLPs, otolaryngologists, pulmonologists, and other medical professionals. This professional is further specialized in the assessment and treatment of speech, voice, and swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders for head and neck cancer patients in outpatient clinics.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to evidence‑based practice research.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification of Clinical Competency from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association and Ohio Licensure in Speech Pathology.
  • Those completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY/SLP) may be considered.
  • Typically, one to two years of experience working in a medical setting is preferred.
