Job summary

SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to help adults and children overcome swallowing, cognition, and communication challenges. You will diagnose and treat diverse disorders, evaluate swallowing with MBSS or FEES, and implement rehab plans.

The team focuses on compassionate care and patient independence. Responsibilities include training families and collaborating with the care team.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology required.
  • Clinical certification in Speech Pathology required (or equivalent).
  • NYS licensure required.
  • Completion of clinical fellowship required.
  • BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat a range of speech, language, cognitive communication, feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Objectively evaluate swallowing with MBSS or FEES and recommend diet modifications or rehab plans.
  • Train family members, caregivers, and other professionals.
  • Collaborate with other members of the care team.

This role holds a wide range of responsibilities and can do a variety of tasks each day, including:
  • diagnosing and treating a variety of speech, language, cognitive communication, feeding, and swallowing disorders
  • objectively evaluating swallowing with MBSS or FEES and recommending appropriate diet modifications, compensatory strategies, and/or rehabilitation plans
  • training family members or caregivers, as well as other professionals
  • collaborating with other members of the care team
To become a member of our caring and effective team you must:
  • have your master’s degree in Speech Pathology
  • clinical certification in Speech Pathology (or its equivalent)
  • NYS licensure
  • completion of clinical fellowship, and
  • BLS-CPR certification required by time of appointment
