Job summary

Felton Institute is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to support the Early Intervention Team, serving birth to 6-year-olds in the Felton ECE Programs. Qualifications

Division Description

TheChildren, Youth, Family and Transitional Age Youth services Division (CYFTAY) is a dynamic and the fastest growing division within Felton Institute with an annual revenue of $20 million generated from local, state and grant sources. CYFTAY offers an array of services to underserved clients. The multidisciplinary programs include Early Care and Education, Early Intervention| Inclusion, Family Support, Mental Health Services, Health, Nutrition, Wellness and Parenting Education Programming.The revenue of $24 million secured from local, state, and grant sources allows us to continue providing these essential services to our community. As a Budget, Grants & Contracts Director within CYFTAY, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effectivefinancial management, grants/contracts financial compliance, reporting, andoptimalutilizationof these funds. ECE Program(s) Description

Felton Institute has been providing comprehensive early care and education services in San Francisco since 1971. Felton now has ECE programs in SF’s Mission, Bayview, and Visitation Valley neighborhoods; and offers a school-readiness program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (2 weeks to 5 years old). Felton’s ECE programs include 4 infant, 7 toddler, and 11 preschool classrooms, which serve approximately 315 children, full-day/ year-round. Felton’s ECE programming offers comprehensive, two generation, holistic, wrap-around services to families with young children (0-5 years old). These multicultural, educational classrooms provide a nurturing, developmentally challenging, and inclusive environment for very young children of low/moderate-income families. Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist is a member of Felton’s interdisciplinary Early Intervention Team. Under direct supervision of the Early Intervention and Inclusion Director, the Speech—Language Pathologist is responsible for supporting the speech, language, and communication needs of both children enrolled in the Early Intervention Programs at Felton, and non-enrolled children referred by Golden Gate Regional Center for community-based services. The SLP serves children through both GGRC and SFUSD contract agreement, and is responsible for understanding and abiding by the requirements of both of these funders. Diagnoses and treats various communication disorders in children ages birth to 6 years old. Collaborates with families, staff and other providers on a regular basis to support the individual needs of each child served.

Program Specific Responsibilities
  • Screen, evaluate and treat children with communication needs ages birth to 6 years old
  • Maintain a billable caseload of 22-25 hours per week
  • Write evaluation, treatment, and progress reports
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for children with communication disorders and disseminate information to other team members including parents/guardians, teachers, other therapists and staff
  • Provide direct therapy to children with communication delays and diagnoses
  • Interface with other members of the child’s team, especially parents, caregivers, and teaching staff
  • Participate in the implementation of IFSP’s and IEPS
  • In collaboration with the Early Intervention and Inclusion Director and other team members, conduct parent, caregiver, and teaching staff training and education
  • Implement therapeutic intervention techniques with children individually and in groups
  • Collaborate with Early Interventionists on treatment plans and strategies regarding mutual clients.
  • Support in the implementation of the Felton Early Autism Program (FEAP)
  • Measure and document outcomes of treatment plan
  • Maintain appropriate records and documentation of clinical activity
  • Attend meetings related to individual children with family, providers, staff and SFUSD and GGRC personnel
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in speech—language pathology or communicative disorders
  • Minimum one year of experience working with the early childhood population
  • Licensed to practice speech—language pathology in the State of California
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech—Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) (with the exception of CFY applicants who will be working toward acquisition of this certificate during the clinical fellowship experience at FDC)
  • Clear understanding of typical and atypical childhood development
  • Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) preferred
  • Clinical competence and judgment
  • Experience working with children with Autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities
  • Must pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and a Child Abuse Index, Health Screening and TB Test as required by licensing
  • Must adhere to the principles of Early Childhood Education and the NAEYC Code of Ethics
  • Working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat)
