Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of a speech‑language pathologist, the speech‑language assistant is responsible for providing speech‑language services to students with Individual Education Programs in the schools.

  • Under the direction and clinical supervision of a speech‑language pathologist (SLP), provide speech‑language services to students with individualized education programs.
  • Collaborate with the SLP supervisor on evidence‑based interventions to help students achieve their speech‑language goals and objectives on their IEPs.
  • Collaborate with the SLP supervisor regarding information on students’ IEPs.
  • Provide screening to identify students with suspected speech‑language disabilities.
  • Keep progress and tracking data using qualitative and quantitative information for individual students receiving speech‑language services.
  • In collaboration with the SLP, maintain list of students’ names on the speech‑language caseload as well as those students who are screened and eligible for speech‑language IEPs.
  • Keep track of and inventory speech‑language intervention materials in the schools.
  • Log therapy services using Easy IEP.
  • Provide progress reports in collaboration with the SLP.
Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction and clinical supervision of a speech‑language pathologist, provide speech‑language services to students with IEPs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Evaluation Team Leader and school team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in speech‑language pathology.
