Job summary

Englewood Public School District is seeking a SPED Bus Paraprofessional to provide student support during morning and afternoon bus runs. The role emphasizes safety, behavior support, and collaboration with bus drivers and school staff.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of experience with students with disabilities. Bilingual ability is a plus and a Colorado driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; preferred.
• 1+ years experience with children with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or emotional/behavioral disorders in educational or instructional setting.
• Bilingual preferred; English fluency determined through application/interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and support to students during arrival and dismissal, including escorting to buses and designated areas.
• Assist the driver with use of specialized equipment such as harnesses, seatbelts, wheelchairs, lifts and tie downs.
• Monitor student behavior on bus and loading/unloading zones; implement behavior support strategies.
• Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, bus drivers, and staff.
• Support implementation of student-specific plans, including IEPs and medical accommodations; maintain confidentiality.
