Job summary

Audubon Schools is seeking a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support students on assigned campus. The role requires flexibility, courtesy, collaboration, and strong communication to assist the Lead Teacher and instructional staff in delivering an engaging classroom experience.

The TA will work with SPED students, monitor progress, and participate in team meetings to discuss observations, strategies, and student needs, fostering a respectful, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience working with children in a school or related setting.
  • Experience in and/or understanding of the public school system including charter schools is desirable.
  • Must be trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or willing to attend the training.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate each morning with Lead Teacher about daily needs/goals.
  • Help Lead Teachers clean/organize and carry out the classroom vision.
  • Observe lessons, hand out materials, clarify directions, and ensure materials are restored.
  • Observe SPED students for needs and share reflections with the teacher.
  • Meet weekly with Lead Teachers and Instructional Strategists to discuss observations and concerns.
  • Sit near students who need extra support and assist with tasks as needed.

Education

High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred)
CPI training
