Job summary

Heights Elementary School seeks a 1.0 FTE Moderate Special Education Teacher to serve K-5 in a Learning Center model. Caseloads are based on student needs, with direct instruction aligned to IEP goals and collaboration with general education and related services.

Responsibilities include case management, developing IEP goals, communicating with families, and chairing annual review meetings. MA DESE certification in Moderate Disabilities PreK–8 is required.

Qualifications

• Strong written and oral communication skills required.
• Experience with IEP team process preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct instruction with students based on IEP goals, in and out of the classroom.
• Co-teach when appropriate.
• Act as case manager/liaison for students on instructional caseload.
• Develop and implement IEP goals and accommodations.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and related services.
• Oversee Instructional Assistants supporting caseload students.
• Communicate between home and school.
• Administer and analyze special education assessments for eligibility.
• Write evaluation reports with diagnostic impressions and recommendations.
• Facilitate and chair annual review team meetings.
• Complete IEP paperwork including progress reports.
