Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Teacher to deliver SPED NT-4 instruction at Augusta RYDC, Augusta, GA. The role focuses on planning, delivering, and differentiating lessons for students in a youth facility setting.

Minimum qualifications include an undergraduate degree and eligibility for Georgia teaching certification. Preference for candidates with experience in at-risk youth and a day shift schedule. This is an internal/external posting within the DJJ system.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and be eligible to obtain a Georgia Clear and Renewable Teacher Certificate as required by statute.
• OR Hold a Provisional Georgia Educator’s Certificate AND eligible to obtain a Georgia Clear and Renewable Teacher Certificate as required by statute.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
