Job summary

Mesa County Valley School District 51 is seeking a Paraprofessional, Special Education (Sped) - Significant Support for the SSN/LIFE program at Grand Mesa Middle School (High-Needs School). The role provides instructional, behavioral, and personal-care support to students with disabilities, implementing IEPs and promoting student growth.

Responsibilities include instructional support, behavior monitoring, personal care, data collection, and collaboration with licensed staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree or 48 college hours or WorkKeys (Title I) required for Title I schools.
• Two years of experience working with children preferred.
• Prior school district experience preferred.
• Experience with students with disabilities or supporting students with significant needs preferred.
• Coursework or training in special education, behavior support, child development, or healthcare preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) language skills required when assigned to a bilingual program.

Responsibilities

• Instructional Support: assist in delivering teacher-designed instruction and adapt materials for diverse needs.
• Behavior Monitoring: support implementation of behavior and safety plans; reinforce positive behaviors.
• Personal Care: assist with feeding, toileting, hygiene, dressing, and mobility as directed.
• Data Collection: record progress on IEP goals and behavior plans.
• Student Supervision: monitor students during transitions and activities; ensure safety.
• Meetings/Training: participate in IEP meetings and staff development; collaborate with staff.
• Other Duties: perform additional tasks as needed.
