Job summary

Fort Zumwalt R-2 School District in Missouri seeks a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist students under a teacher’s supervision in resource or self-contained settings.

Requires a high school diploma; experience with children preferred; candidates with 60 college hours and the ability to obtain substitute certification are encouraged to apply. The position is 9 months with a set daily schedule and salaries disbursed in 19 or 24 payments.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children is preferred and is competent in the duties to be performed.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have a minimum of sixty (60) college hours and are able to obtain a substitute teacher certification and be competent in the duties to be performed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with the instruction of special education students in the classroom.
• Monitor classroom when there are IEP meetings and staffings (Only paraprofessional with a sub-certification or teaching certification to monitor a classroom).
• Assist the special education teachers as needed (i.e., grading papers, phone calls).
• Assist with the physical care of special education students as needed (i.e. diaper changing, taking to the bathroom, and feeding).
