Job summary

Kelso School District is seeking a Para-SpEd RESOURCE at Coweeman Middle School. This temporary 2026-2027 role runs 6.5 hours/day, 7:30am–2:30pm, 191 days/year, with potential hour reductions for early releases and holidays.

The role supports the special education teacher, maintains records, and helps with IEPs and progress reports. Includes responsibilities for student supervision, assisting with daily care when needed, and ensuring a safe, respectful environment.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must meet PESB-approved assessment requirements.
• Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher.
• Have completed an apprenticeship as a paraeducator registered with WSATC.
• Must complete training on the Fundamental Course of Study within timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist the special education teacher with maintaining records.
• Submit IEPs and progress reports timely; document services.
• Assist with daily hygiene tasks for students with disabilities.
• Supervise students in cafeteria, classroom, grounds, and community.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Uphold school rules, regulations, and policies.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
