Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District (NM) is seeking instructional assistants to support students with special education needs. Candidates must meet one criterion: passing the ParaPro exam (457) or completing 48 college hours with 15 credits in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics, or professional education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 48 semester hours with 15 credits in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or education.
• Passage of ParaPro or related educational assistant assessment.
• Must meet NCLB Highly Qualified requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom management routines.
• Accompany the teacher on home visits, as necessary.
• Direct IEP related activities under teacher supervision.
• Prepare classroom for activities and set up materials.
• Assist in preparing displays and bulletin boards.
• Keep equipment and materials clean and in good condition.
• Supervise playground, cafeteria, in-class, and bus loading as required.
• Participate in in-service activities; perform other duties as assigned.
