Job summary

Gadsden Independent School District is seeking instructional assistant applicants to support classroom activities and IEP-related work under teacher supervision. Candidates may qualify via ParaPro or by meeting college-hour requirements.

Responsibilities include assisting with classroom routines, home visits, displays, safety, and supervision across playground, cafeteria, and bus loading, plus participation in in-service activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
• Completion of 48 semester hours including 15 in language arts, reading, writing, mathematics or professional education.
• Passing ParaPro exam is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom management routines.
• Accompanies the teacher on home visits, as necessary.
• Under supervision, direct IEP related activities of students.
• Prepare classroom for activities.
• Assist in keeping equipment and materials clean and in good condition.
• Assist the teacher with activities and supervision of playground, cafeteria, in-class, and bus loading.
• Participate in in-service activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
