Job summary

Colorado Springs School District 11(co) is seeking a Financial Clerk (SPED) to provide administrative and technical support in the Special Education office in Colorado Springs, CO. The role focuses on tracking Medicaid-related fiscal activities and maintaining accurate SPED records to ensure compliant spending.

The position reports to the Director, offers a 1.0 FTE arrangement with 260 days per year and is non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in business administration, accounting or finance or equivalent work experience (preferred).
• Four years’ financial experience, preferably in governmental or school district environments.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Excel.
• PowerSchool experience (preferred).
• Self-starter who follows through until task or project is completed.

Responsibilities

• Monitors accounting functions for Medicaid and IDEA/ECEA funds as assigned.
• Liaisons with Transportation Department concerning transportation logs and other data.
• Processes payroll submissions and maintains payroll reports.
• Maintains accounting records according to District’s retention policies and EOY policies.
• Coordinates with Medicaid Manager and SPED Senior Accountant to ensure accuracy of reconciliations and documents.
