Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Educational coursework and prior classroom experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid training required.
• Possess or qualify for NM Level III Educational Assistant license.
• Demonstrate aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed personnel in school environment while respecting individual differences.
• Support students academically, socially, and physically to become positive, productive participants in society.
• Work as a member of a team and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Assist with supplementary work and supervise independent study in the school environment.
• Use current technology for instructional management needs.
• Assist licensed personnel with student discipline up to and including safely restraining students.
• Assist in maintaining students' involvement in appropriate tasks and activities.
• Provide assistance with individualized program materials and confidentiality.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Educational course work and prior classroom experience preferred

CPR and First Aid training

Possess or qualify for a New Mexico Level III Educational Assistant license
