Job summary

Pasadena Independent School District is seeking a SPED ECSE (PPCD) Aide to support a special education student’s daily training program under teacher supervision. Responsibilities include feeding, lifting, and individualized care, assisting with instructional and non-instructional activities, and student management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate required.
  • PAC Test / NCLB compliance required.
  • Bilingual testing if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher in routine classroom management duties.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom environment and supplies.
  • Assist students in homework preparation, test taking.
  • Modify teacher's assignments, tests, and other instructional entities.
  • Maintain records, files and other pertinent documents on each student.
  • Communicate students' needs to faculty and staff.
  • Assist in implementing student's behavior management plan.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of the school buses.

Job description

Primary Purpose

To work under the supervision of the special education teacher and assist in the special education student's daily training program; the aide may help with feeding, lifting, and individualized care of special education students; the aide may assist with daily instructional and non‑instructional activities, including student management.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
  • PAC Test (No Child Left Behind) / 48 College Hours
  • Bilingual Test (if applicable)

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist teacher in routine classroom management duties
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials
  • Assist in maintaining classroom environment and supplies

  • Assist in implementing student's behavior management plan
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of the school buses
  • Participate in the activities involved with physical education classes
  • Assist with individual student's personal hygiene needs
  • Feed or assist students in feeding themselves
  • Lift, move, and position students in a variety of settings
  • Be aware of student's various medical concerns
  • Escort students to different locations in the building
  • Monitor students during various activities during the school day
  • Be able to work with any student as determined by the student's I.E.P.
  • File various documents in students’ folders
  • Assist in orienting students to class schedule each semester
  • Obtain any necessary textbooks for different programs
  • Perform other duties as determined by the special education teacher or the principal
Working Conditions

Mental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) instructions; ability to hear and locate sounds; maintain emotional control under stress; interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions.

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

Ability to see close up, at a distance and peripherally; lift and carry 50 lbs; push or pull 100 lbs; maneuver wheelchairs, walkers or other wheeled apparatus; physically restrain disruptive students; reach above the head or straight out from the body; stand continuously for at least 30 minutes; use hands in performing tasks such as diaper changing, feeding, and helping with life skills.
