Job summary

Alakai Defense Systems, Inc. seeks an Associate Chemist to support the curation, QC, and documentation of our deep-UV Raman spectral library used for chemical threat detection.

The role is based in Largo, FL and requires US citizenship for access to classified information. You will work on-site on a 4×10 schedule (Mon–Thu), with occasional travel ~15% for field collections or training, and collaborate across teams to enforce data integrity and safety protocols with routine PPE and lab equipment

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen required; must meet eligibility for access to classified information.
• MS in Chemistry or BS in Chemistry with 1–2 years of relevant experience.
• On-site in Largo, FL with a 4×10 schedule (Mon–Thu).
• Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with lasers, solvents and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to curation, quality control and documentation of the spectral library.
• Maintain library governance: naming conventions, synonyms/CAS references, version control and release docs.
• Assist with inventory management, labeling and segregation; ensure safety procedures.
• Coordinate data collections with partner organizations; occasional travel.
