Job summary

Pathology department seeks a Specimen Receiving Technician to perform specimen receiving for laboratory specimens using LIS and HIS, accessioning, labeling, and delivery. The role includes assisting with problem resolution and communication with referring physicians and other UH departments.

You will rotate between Specimen Receiving and Processing as scheduled. Work days are Monday–Friday, 11:00 am–7:30 pm, with holidays on rotation.

Qualifications

• Associates degree (preferably in a relevant medical field) or equivalent education/experience.
• Relevant college courses preferred; related medical field experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Receive and accession specimens using LIS/HIS; label and deliver samples.
• Prepare reports and assist with problem resolution and follow-up with UH departments and physicians.
• Greet visitors and answer phones in Pathology; rotate between Specimen Receiving and Processing as scheduled.
