Job summary

Heritage Valley Beaver in Beaver, PA is seeking a Specimen Processor to operate pre-analytical automation, verify patient identity, and accurately enter test orders into the laboratory information system. You will receive, prepare, and process all lab samples delivered to the laboratory, and provide support such as answering calls, faxing reports, and handling send-outs.

Training and professional conduct are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Successful completion of applicable clearance as outline in HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot pre-analytical automation where applicable.
• Routinely register patients and verify patient identity; enter test orders into the laboratory information system accurately.
• Receive, prepare, and process all lab samples delivered to the laboratory.
• Provide support such as answering telephone calls, faxing reports, and handling send-outs.
• Provide training and/or orientation for internal staff and external customers.
• Maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.

Description

Department: Laboratory, Work Hours:Monday through Friday, primarily evening shift with some daylight.

The Specimen Processor is responsible for operating and troubleshooting the pre-analytical automation if applicable and as assigned. Will routinely register patients, verify patient identity and perform test order entry into laboratory information system accurately and efficiently to ensure proper testing and charges of patient account. Receive, prepare, and process all lab samples delivered to the laboratory. Provides support such as answering telephones, faxing reports, and send-outs. Provides training and/or orientation for internal employees and external customers. Promotes and maintains a professional manner in all situations.

Required: High school graduate or GED equivalent. Successful completion of applicable clearance as outline in Human Resources policy HR-106 with 90 days of commencing employment.
