Job summary

Labcorp is a global leader in diagnostic testing and drug development solutions, seeking a Specimen Processor to join our Kennewick, WA team. The role focuses on preparing and processing biological specimens to support high‑throughput testing and accurate results.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • 6 months or more medical office or hospital high volume data entry.
  • 6 months or more specimen processing.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing.
  • Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing.
  • Verify patient demographic information matches the test requisition form submitted.
  • Data entry of patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
  • Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities when required.
  • Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
  • Resolve and document any problem specimens.
  • Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.
  • Comply with applicable environmental health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate automated instrumentation under supervision if necessary.

Specimen Processor

PAML a Labcorp company is seeking a Specimen Processor to join our team in the Kennewick, WA.

Work Schedule

Tues­day - Saturday 3:00PM - 11:00PM; additional hours/days as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Introduce and prepare biological specimens to the laboratory to ensure accurate processing
  • Open specimens and pour off into secondary containers to prepare for analysis and testing

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 Months or more medical office or hospital high volume data entry
  • 6 months or more specimen processing
Additional Job Standards
  • Proficient computer and typing skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samples
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Strong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed
  • Exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortable working under minimal supervision

Pay Range

$17.75 to 25.20 per hour

Plus 2nd shift differentials

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan.
  • Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
