Job summary

Labcorp in Columbia, TN is seeking a Specimen Processor II to join our team. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 1pm-9:30pm with potential overtime. You will prepare laboratory specimens, perform data entry, and ensure accurate labeling and timely processing.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and 1 year of medical/clinical laboratory experience. Preferred: 1 year in healthcare or manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Communicate effectively with client office staff
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
  • Scrub requisitions to ensure samples are prepared and missing items are updated
  • Do spinning/freezing/splitting and other special services as needed based on client

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor II to join our team in Columbia, TN

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 1pm-9:30pm, potential mandatory over time

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
  • Communicate effectively with client office staff
  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve customer and specimen problems
  • Meet department activity and production goals
  • Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Accurately identify and label specimens
  • Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • 1 year or more of experience in a medical/clinical laboratory experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year or more of experience in the healthcare industry, such as a physician's office, clinic or hospital
  • 1 year of experience in an assembly or manufacturing production environment
Additional Job Standards
  • Comfortable handling biological specimens
  • Ability to accurately identify specimens
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

The Specimen Processing Specialist will be responsible for performing clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment located onsite with one of our client offices.

  • Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
