Job summary

Our client, a Medical Research company, in Chantilly VA, seeks a Specimen Technician to perform general support in the Specimen Processing Department. Responsibilities include A-station tasks, presort, delivery of specimens, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting in a production environment with strict safety standards.

The role emphasizes adherence to compliance regulations, data entry work, and the ability to operate in a biohazard setting while maintaining productivity and quality timelines.

Qualifications

• Data entry background.
• Ability to learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis.
• Able to sit or stand for long periods.
• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
• Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
• Previous hospital laboratory experience is a plus but not required.
• Previous experience in a production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• General support functions within the Specimen Processing Department.
• Functions performed may include but are not limited to A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation and aliquoting.
• Department is a production environment, with emphasis on productivity/quality standards and departmental completion times.
• Works in a biohazard environment, practicing good safety habits.
