Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Medical Technician I to support specimen processing in a fast-paced, patient-focused lab environment. The role emphasizes accuracy, organization, and adherence to procedures to ensure timely patient care.

You will handle accessioning, preparation of slides and reagents, and shipment preparation for reference labs while maintaining equipment and inventory.

Qualifications

• 3 years in a clinical medical laboratory or similar setting (required).
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in basic science preferred.
• US work location onsite; full-time schedule and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Accession and document all specimens and cases with special handling as needed.
• Prepare slides and complex tissue/slide setups for clinical testing.
• Prepare reagents and sterile supplies; cut and grind tissue when required.
• Aliquot specimens into transport containers and generate manifests.
• Operate and maintain lab instrumentation; perform QC and calibration.
• Maintain inventory and restock supplies; keep a clean workstation.
• Provide strong customer service and professional communication.
• Train staff, students and fellows on established processes.
