Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six months lab accessioning experience preferred; prior medical field experience preferred.
• HIPAA certification or knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and logging incoming specimens, verifying patient information and matching specimens to requisitions.
• Labeling specimens with patient details and sorting by test type and priority.
• Inputting patient information, specimen details, and test orders into the LIS.
• Aliquoting and centrifuging specimens as needed and preparing them for analysis.
• Distributing specimens to appropriate testing areas within the lab.
• Maintaining specimen integrity and following quality assurance procedures.
• Storing and disposing of specimens per regulations and answering calls/emails timely.
• Assist clients as needed and support ongoing changes in a professional manner.

Role And Responsibilities

• Receiving and logging incoming specimens, verifying patient information and matching specimen with the requisition form.
• Labeling specimens accurately with patient details and sorting them based on test type and priority.
• Inputting patient information, specimen details, and test orders into the laboratory information system (LIS).
• Aliquoting specimens, centrifuging samples as needed and preparing them for analysis according to established laboratory protocols.
• Distributing specimens to the appropriate testing areas within the laboratory.
• Monitoring specimen integrity, identifying potential errors, and following quality assurance procedures escalating any issues to direct supervisor when necessary.
• Storing and disposing of specimens properly and according to laboratory regulations.
• Answers departmental phone calls, and emails in a timely manner
• Assist clients as needed
• Performs other job-related duties as needed
• Supports ongoing changes in a professional manner contributes to a positive work environment and to the team effort of the laboratory.

Requirements

Minimum Education Required

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum Experience Required

Six months lab accessioning experience preferred; previous medical field experience is preferred.

Skills Required

Basic understanding of Medical Terminology and Laboratory Procedures, Data Entry, Lab Compliance, Microsoft Application, Organizational Skills, Work Independently in a timely manner.
